I put Jackie on the table and took a picture of "瀬戸大橋 = Se to O hashi" and "宇多津ゴールドタワー = U ta zu Gold Tower" for a moment.
It is difficult to understand when it is photograph, but "宇多津ゴールドタワー = U ta zu Gold Tower" is the tower that looks dark on the right.
The "瀬戸大橋 = Se to O hashi" is visible to the left and right of the tower.
I frequently ranned around under this stone wall when as a child.

I am taking photos while changing the direction at the same place from the previous time.
I took a "石垣 = Ishi gaki" of "二の丸 = Ni no maru" from "三の丸 = San no Maru". A "隅櫓 = Sumi yagura" was built on a "石垣 = Ishi gaki" above a person.
There is no "隅櫓 = Sumi yagura" also in this "月見櫓跡 = tsuki mi yagura ato" of "三の丸 = San no Maru" where Jackie is. Also there is no "隅櫓 = Sumi yagura" of "二の丸 = Ni no maru" in the picture.

This time it is the medieval mountain castle "聖通寺山城 = Shou tsu ji sanjyou" again. The big mountain on the right is the "Making pottery mountain", as its name "土器山 = Do ki yama", if you climb this moutain, where you can see the "窯 = Kama", and many "古墳 = Ko Fun".
"聖通寺山城 = Shou tsu ji sanjyou" is a mountain visible to the left of the mountain that looks overhead of my pet dog Jackie.

Last time I was presentation you the ancient mountain castle!
Many medieval "城山 = Shiro yama" and ancient "城山 = Shiro yama" are scattered around Marugame castle.
This time it is a picture of the medieval mountain castle. "長尾城 = Nagao Castle" is a mountain shaped like "△ = triangle" the mountain seen above Jackie's head as before.
The medieval mountain castle in Japan uses the topography effectively, and it adds "空堀 = Kara bori" and ”土塁 = Do rui”, etc. and it is solidly protecting it.
Maybe You can not understand it with photographs!
Also, since many "平城 = Hira jiro or Hira jyo" castles are difficult to understand on these photo page, I am omitted.

Last time I guide the "岩頸 = Gan kei" of the "山下曲輪 = Yama shita Kuru wa".
I went up to the "月見櫓跡 = tsuki mi yagura ato" of the "三の丸 = San no Maru" at at once. The mountain is "城山 = Shiro yama" that looks overhead of my pet dog Jackie. It is "城山 = Ki yama" which was built by in the ancient Korean style building law. A mountain that looks like a triangle to the right is "讃岐富士 = Sanuki Mt.Fuji".
Jackie's dog breed is Shih Tzu.
In the place where Jackie is, there was a corner tower that was built in the past. Currently only cornerstone remains.

From here, it will be a picture of another day.
This picture is a rock called "兜岩 = Kabuto iwa" on the west side of "城山 = Shiro yama". Well on this rock is the playground when I was a child. I played everyday. At that time there was a small cave in the back of this rock. It was a fragile and easily destroyed cave, so it was blown up when I was elementary school lower grades.
This rock is called a "岩頸 = Gan kei" and the igneous rock is eroded by this erosion.
Also in the vicinity where the "御殿 = Go ten", "社 = Yashiro" was built on this rock, and it was said that it was also called "天神山 = Ten jin yama".
"天神 = Ten jin" refers to "菅原道真 = Sugawara Michizane" called "雷神 = Rai jin" and "学問の神 = Gakumon no kami".
He became "文章博士 = bunshou Hakase" and He served to my ancestor "宇多天皇 = Emperor Uta", as a "右大臣 = Udaijin" and was a political reformer.
And "宇多天皇 = Emperor Uta" was abdicated, in the era of "醍醐天皇 = Emperor Daigo", his sharp political reforms were disgusted by aristocrats, be accused from aristocrats,and "菅原道真 = Sugawara Michizane" was exiled to "大宰府 = Dazaifu" in Kyushu.
He died of disappointment, and plague and disaster occurred everywhere including the capital "京都 = Kyoto".
And the reason why he is called "雷神 = Rai jin". Which he killed aristocrats by thunder. When aristocrats during the meeting at the "清涼殿 = Sei ryou den" in the palace by his gost.

There is such an explanation board near the place which climbed the "見返り坂 = Mikaeri zaka".
It is an explanation about the "石垣 = Ishi gaki" of the "扇の勾配 = Oogi no koobai".
"石垣の美 = Ishi gaki no bi" (beauty of stone wall)
This slope commonly called a "見返り坂 = Mikaeri zaka", there is beautiful in the young leaves of "楓 = Kaede(Maple)" in the fresh green, and the autumnal leaves in the fall.
The high "石垣 = Ishi gaki" of "三の丸 = San no Maru" on the right hand overhead, That "石垣 = Ishi gaki" stands boasting of beauty and firmness.
It is vertical at the top of the "石垣 = Ishi gaki", draws a gradual curve gradually, and its buried in the earth, it beautiful line.

Marugame castle is beautiful pink Cherry blossoms in spring and Maple leaves stained beautiful red in autumn.
I am look up at "石垣 = Ishi gaki" of "三の丸 = San no Maru" from "見返り坂 = Mikaeri zaka".
The right of here, there is an straight uphill road, we call it "見返り坂 = Mikaeri zaka".
At the time of the war, the enemy invad the "大手門 = Oo te mon". And the soldier who defended the "大手門 = Oo te mon" , they rush back up the slope while look back at the hill road. So, we call it "見返り坂 = Mikaeri zaka".

The left side of the "天守 = Ten syu" is "二の丸 = Ni no maru(Defense facility in the second row). "本丸 = Hon maru" and "二の丸 = Ni no maru" are surrounded by "三の丸 = San no Maru" and "本丸 = Hon maru" and "二の丸 = Ni no maru" are protected.
We call this kind of "三の丸 = San no Maru" "帯曲輪 = Obi Kuru wa(Annular defense facility)".
