Marugame castle - 43
A samurai that does not like "御殿門 = Go ten mon". He do not like going inside for a place called "Palace".
It is the front of "御殿門=Go-ten-mon = formal; 薬医門=Yaku-i-mon".
This gate is the official entrance of the samurai residence or noble family mansion.

Marugame castle - 42
A samurai taking a rest before the "御殿門 = Go ten mon" (type: 薬医門 = Yaku i mon).On the right side of "御殿門 = Go ten mon", you can be seen above Jackie that "武家長屋 = Bu ke naga ya" which is a windowless building, samurai stuffing rooms that guards the palace, and a room hold of "駕籠 = Ka go" which carries the Feudal Lord.

Marugame castle - 41
A samurai who is trying to turn back without heading for "御殿門 = Go ten mon".
When you head towards the right from the square inside the "大手門 = Oo te mon", this kind of landscape spreads.
The roofed wall shown in the photo was built on "枡形 = Masu-gata" and "石垣 = Ishi gaki" facing "内堀 = Uchi bori". It is demolished now.
The roof which is visible on the covered wall on the center left is the roof of "御殿門 = Go ten mon".
Buildings that are visible in the front exist room of samurai who guard the palace, and room that hold of "駕籠 = Ka go" which carries the Feudal Lord.
The lower three stage "石垣 = Ishi gaki" of the samurai 's right hand is "野面積石垣 = Noduradumi-ishigaki".

Marugame castle - 40
A samurai watching whether the enemy intrudes persistently in the castle.
"大手一の門 = Oo-te-ichi-no-mon" on the left hand and "大手二の門 = Oo-te-ni-no-mon" on the right.
Currently it is a bamboo fence, but in the Edo period the roofed wall was standing on the "石垣 = Ishi gaki".
"枡形 = Masu-gata" surrounded by two gates(大手一の門=Oo-te-ichi-no-mon and 大手二の門=Oo-te-ni-no-mon) and two "石垣 = Ishi gaki" has become a hell for the enemy.

Speaking of "尺八=Shakuhachi", the first thing to imagine is the "虚無僧=Ko-mu-sou".
虚無僧=Ko-mu-sou
A monk of "普化宗=Fuke of Buddhism", a sect of Zen Buddhism.
Buddhist monks are supposed to shave, but the "虚無僧=Ko-mu-sou" are not having to shave their hair.
In the Kamakura period (AD 1185 - 1333), the priest "臨済宗=Rinzai sect" monk "心地覚心=Shin-chi-kaku-shin AD 1207 - 1298/11/18" visited to China, and Zen meditation in China and brought back its teachings to Japan. It is the beginning of "普化宗=Fuke of Buddhism".
Just like medieval knights tired of war, quit the knight and become a minstrel.
It is said that a samurai who became tired of war has become a "虚無僧=Ko-mu-sou" too.
