In the center of the picture, the Ishigaki is "切り込みハギ = Kirikomi Hagi" construction method.

I looked back the "飯野山 = Ii no yama(Iino mountain) = (讃岐富士 = Sanuki Mt.Fuji)" from the "帯曲輪 = Obi Kuruwa(Annular defense facility)". Sanuki Fuji is the mountain in the shape of trianglel on the upper right.

When The Japan have mountains resembling Mt Fuji.
We will make the name of Mt Fuji which has the name of the area.
For example, "Omi Fuji" in Shiga pre.

The mountain on the left side of Sanuki Fuji.
This mountain is the "山城 = Yama jiro "mountain castle" of the construction method in ancient Korea.
The name of the castle is "城山 = Kiyama (Castle mountain)".

Ishigaki in the upper right of the photo is Ishigaki of "三の丸 = San no Maru".

This picture is a stone wall that you can see as you climb up from the "搦め手門 = Karamete Mon(Back doorway gate)" which was a ”大手門 = Ootemon(Main gate)" in the Ikoma era.

In other words, of the Ikoma family era and Yamazaki family era, the Marugame Castle had a major gate on the south side.

This ishigaki built in the Yamazaki family era,There are many in a stone wall standing straight up. This method is a method called "打ち込みハギ = Uchikomi Hagi", processing natural stones with fleas and the like, or break a stone.You can also check traces of the arrow hole. 

There are marks of "栃木御門 = the Tochinoki gates" near this picture, but the stone wall isIt is built by the construction method of ""切り込みハギ = Kirikomi Hagi".

Marugame castle is a castle built and maintained as its residence by 生駒家(the Ikoma family), 山崎家(the Yamazaki family), and the three famous Daimyo houses of 京極家(the Kyogoku family). The total height of the stone wall boasts the highest height in Japan and is famous also for stone walls with an elegant curve called "扇の勾配 = Oogi no koubai(slope of a fan)".
As I went for a walk with my dog Jackie, I took a picture of Ishigaki, so please take a look.

This picture is Ishigaki made by "野面積石垣 = Noduradumi-ishigaki (construction made with natural stone)" method which was built on the southeast mountain slope of  Marugame Castle.
Viewed from the "山下曲輪 = Yamashita kuruwa(The influence range of the castle)", this stone wall is the oldest stone wall in Marugame Castle's Ishigaki of the "生駒家 = Ikoma family period". It is a construction method made with natural stone, stacked almost without processing, drainage of rainwater is good, Ishigaki is hard to collapse.

The structure of the stone wall of Marugame Castle is constructed by double-layered stone walls. Inside stone wall is "野面積石垣 = Noduradumi-ishigaki (construction made with natural stone)". On the outside so as to cover "打ち込みハギ = Uchikomi Hagi (pounding in Construction method)" and "切り込みハギ = Kirikomi Hagi(Notch Construction method)".

And, it has been considered so far. But in April 2009 stumps can be seen at the top of this stone wall because this is a fallen tree.
From December 2011, excavation survey of the Marugame City Board of Education was held as a cure for restoration of this stone wall.
As a result, one of the stones in the corner of Ishigaki was found a hole to drive a wedge when splitting a stone called a pitcher.
This method is a technique since the early Edo period (1624 - 44) years, not in the Ikoma family period but in the Yamazaki family period Ishigaki, It turned out that I reloaded it. Ishigaki just under this is a stone wall built in the Yamazaki family period, why old-fashioned "Noduradumi ishigaki" construction method whether it has been rebuilt. However, thanks to that, we can see three kinds of stone walls in the same castle.

As spring coming, Event for the Japanese people to look forward to · · · cherry-blossom viewing = Hanami. Cherry blossoms are very important and beautiful flowers for Japanese people.
In Japan, Senbon Zakura in Yoshino in Nara Prefecture is said to be particularly beautiful.

Even at the laboratory where I was, the engineering doctors from Ehime were enjoying the cherry blossoms in the laboratory garden on April 4.
Ehime prefecture is a late "Hinamatsuri = Girls' festival" so celebrate on April 4 instead of March 3rd.

My recommended places to view Mt.Fuji


"Feudal lord's garden Ritsurin Park = Daimyou teien Rirsurin Kouen" in Takamatsu City, Kagawa prefecture where I live.
This garden is also famous for its beautiful cherry blossoms.

I was born and grown in Marugame City , "Marugame castle" was built there, the castle is famous for "Hanami" of cherry blossoms.
Over 7 thousand castles exist in Japan. Marugame Castle have the "castle tower" existing since the feudal era, and there are only 12 castles in our country ,where "castle tower" remains.

As you know,A famous Japanese Hero "Yoshitsune Minamoto",He fought against Heike, he triumph.
Among the stories,The story of him and the cherry blossoms is told.

"源 = Minamoto" = "源氏 = Genji".

Minamoto's surname given from the Emperor is the last name when the Emperor' s grandson was removed from the royal family.

Yoshitsune Minamoto is the descendant of "清和天皇 = Emperor Seiwa" and He is called "清和源氏 = Seiwa Genji".

There were 21 families with the Emperor as their ancestors, all of which were named "源 = Minamoto".

Actually, I am "宇多源氏 = Uta Genji". My family line is the descendant of "宇多天皇 = Emperor Uta".
Of course, most Genji are renaming it and makes it another surname.Therefore, My name is not "源 = Minamoto".

"平 = Taira" = "平家 = Heike"

Then・・・Taira is the surname given when the great-grandson of the Emperor took off from the royal family.

In other words, Yoshitsune made a war between the same royal family.
