Marugame castle - 26

In the last article, I posted a picture of the "天守 = Ten syu" from the "隅櫓 = Sumi yagura" of the west side of the "天守 = Ten syu", if I turn to the west, I can see two medieval castles.

The mountain to the left of the center is "天霧城 = Ama giri Castle".
This castle has become a role of "詰め城 = Tsu me jyou" to fight back in battle.
Like castle of medieval castle "千早城 = Chi haya castle", this castle was a stronghold mountain castle representative of Japan.
"Moto dai Castle" where a low mountain where there is a "居城 = Kyo jyou" is visible on the fence in the center of the picture.
The image of a general Japanese castle is an early modern castle, they do not think the medieval castle is like a "barrier fences and narrow huts". Therefore, even if the Japanese went to the Japanese medieval castle, I think that Japanese can be seen only in the mountain or the plaza, which has no "石垣 = Ishi gaki", "隅櫓 = Sumi yagura" and "天守 = Ten syu".
Actually, in this photograph, Medieval "平城 = Hira shiro or Hira jyou" and the ancient defensive facility "古代高地性集落 = Ko dai kou chi sei syuu raku" are also shown.

石垣 = Ishi gaki(stone wall)
平城 = Hira shiro or Hira jyou(Castle on the plain)
古代高地性集落 = Ko dai kou chi sei syuu raku(Ancient Elevation Village = nation)

I took a picture of the "天守 = Ten syu" from the "隅櫓 = Sumi yagura" on the west side of the "本丸 = Hon maru".
"礎石 = So seki" are lined up at the edge of "石垣 = Ishi gaki" and the "礎石 = So seki" in the center of the photo, It is the cornerstone of a tower that connected each "隅櫓 = Sumi yagura" and "天守 = Ten syu", saying the "渡り櫓 = Watari yagura". When restoring, it looks like the "Himeji castle" with a castle tower and a corner tower which was connected, and the whole main was a single structure. Of course "二の丸 = Ni no maru" was similarly connected by the "渡り櫓 = Watari yagura" in Marugame Castle.

It may be difficult to understand ... It is a wooden model of Marugame castle created in the Edo period.

The finger holding the camera is on the upper left, ...
I will head from "二の丸 = Ni no maru" to "本丸 = Hon maru" of previous articles.
You can see the "天守 = Ten syu" from the slope leading from "二の丸 = Ni no maru" to "本丸 = Hon maru".
"石垣 = Ishi gaki" on the left and "本丸御門 = Hon maru go mon" were on the "石垣 = Ishi gaki" on the right although it is not shown in the photograph.
Before being attacked by enemies so far, I think that all of the samurai had given up the counterattack and were "切腹 = seppuku".

Even in Japan with summer high humidity, it will become a bit cooler after sunset.

One summer night, Marugame citizens participate in the event while looking up at Marugame Castle.

Evening of beer and German music

How do you feel if all the German citizens see the above picture?

The Consul General of Germany has also participated in this event.

There is a deep connection between Marugame and Germany.
I will inform you about it several times from now.

I moved a little from the location of the previous article and took a photo another one. I see a "石落とし = Ishi otoshi".
There is a part protruding a little on the wall on the right side of the first floor part of "天守 = Ten syu". That is "石落とし = Ishi otoshi".
There was "二の丸御門 = Ni no maru Go mon" under "天守 = Ten syu", and there enter "二の丸 = Ni no maru" from "三の丸 = San no Maru".
When the enemy comes to this point, the lord prepares for "切腹 = seppuku or 腹切 = harakiri or disembowelment" ...
Japanese samurai thought disgrace that they yield to the enemy.
Therefore, if they know that it will be a losing battle, the "殿様 = Tono sama" and his samurais also disembowelment themselves.
Fortunately, Marugame castle is not caught up in the battle, so no one is dead besides the two who are sacrifice when at the time of construction of Marugame Castle.
