Well, the Kyogoku family of Marugame clan lord was a family line of "Hidden Christian Daimyo".
In Japan, "Christian" here means historically the meaning of "Catholic followers".
Until the Meiji era, there were many "hidden Christianity" of "Saltary Navy" who lived on the "塩飽諸島=Shi-waku islands" off Marugame. Likewise, many "hidden Christian" lived in Shodoshima Island off the coast of the Takamatsu clan.
In the Meiji era, when freedom of religion was allowed, "hidden Christian people" throughout Japan returned to the Catholic Church.
However, a small portion of the "hidden Christian people" kept their faith, which has been three hundred years old.
"Hidden Christian" remains in Iku-tsuki-Island near Nagasaki prefecture in Kyushu, near Hirado-Island.
Today I will introduce their faith.
